フランス・ジュニアチームはカナダ・ロングーユでの決勝戦でスペインを15対2でくだし、世界チャンピオンの座を勝ち取った。日本チームは予選で１勝４敗の成績だった。日本は予選抽選でフランス、カナダ２、スウェーデン、フィンランド、イギリスの集まる強豪の第３グーループに入った。残念ながら対イギリスへの１勝だけでは、予選通過には充分でなかった。

The junior team from France won the World Champion title beating Spain 15:2 in the final at Longueuil, Canada. The Japanese team managed a 1 win - 4 losses result in the qualification round. Japan was drawn into the strong Group 3, together with France, Canada II, Sweden, Finland and the UK. Unfortunately, the only win over the UK was not enough for the Japanese team to advance into the 2nd round.
